This Privacy Policy explains how QR Scanner Pro ("the Application", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. Please read it carefully before using the Application.
In short: Everything you scan or create stays on your device. We do not upload, store or view your scans. However, the Application displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, and uses Google Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, as described below.
1. Scanning and Your Codes
All scanning and code generation happens entirely on your device, using Google ML Kit's on-device models.
- Camera images are analysed in real time on the device and are not photographed, saved or transmitted.
- Scanned results and the codes you create are stored only in the Application's local history on your device.
- We do not upload, collect or store the content of your codes — including Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, links or any other data they may contain.
- You can delete individual entries or clear the entire history at any time from within the Application. Uninstalling the Application also removes all stored history.
2. Permissions We Request
- Camera: required to scan QR codes and barcodes. The camera feed is processed on the device and is never transmitted or recorded.
- Photos / media access (optional): used only when you choose to scan a code from an image you select. Only the image you pick is read.
- You may deny or revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. Denying the camera permission only disables live scanning; the rest of the Application continues to work.
3. Following Links and Actions
When a scanned code contains a website address, the Application shows you the address and opens it only if you choose to. Once you leave the Application, the destination website or app is governed by its own privacy policy, not this one. Please review scanned links carefully before opening them.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Application displays advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve, measure and limit the frequency of ads, AdMob may collect and process the following, independently of us:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID) and device identifiers
- Device information such as model, operating system version and language
- Approximate location derived from the IP address
- Ad interaction data such as impressions and clicks
This data is collected and used by Google in accordance with its own policies. It is used to serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted. We do not receive your scan history, camera images, contacts, precise location or any personally identifying information through advertising.
To learn how Google uses this data, see Google's policy on how it uses data from partner sites and apps.
Your choices: Users in regions where consent is required are asked for their advertising preferences the first time the Application runs, and can change that choice at any time from the Application's settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier and opt out of personalized advertising from Settings → Google → Ads on your Android device.
5. Analytics and Crash Reporting (Google Firebase)
The Application uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the Application is used and to detect technical problems. These services automatically collect:
- App events such as screen views, session count and session duration
- Device information such as model, operating system version, language and app version
- Country and approximate region derived from the IP address
- A randomly generated installation identifier and advertising identifiers
- Crash reports containing the technical state of the Application at the moment of a crash, such as the error message, stack trace and available device memory
This information is used solely to improve the stability and functionality of the Application. It never includes the content of your scans, your camera images or your local history. Data is encrypted in transit and processed by Google in accordance with the Firebase Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data We Store on Your Device
The Application stores a small amount of information locally so it can work correctly. This information is never transmitted to us:
- Your scan and creation history
- Your application preferences, such as theme and scanning options
- Whether you have already seen the introduction screens
Uninstalling the Application removes this information from your device.
7. Data Sharing and Selling
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Apart from the Google services described in sections 4 and 5, we do not share data with any third party.
8. Children's Privacy
The Application is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the Application, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.
9. Data Retention and Your Rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on any server, there is no account to delete and no data for us to erase. You can remove all locally stored information at any time by clearing your history, clearing the Application's data, or uninstalling it. If you would like the analytics and crash data associated with your installation to be deleted, contact us at the address below and we will process your request. For questions regarding data handled by Google through advertising, please refer to Google's policies linked above.
10. Security
Because your scan history stays on your device, its security depends on your device's own protections. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a screen lock, especially if you scan codes that contain sensitive information such as Wi-Fi passwords.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Application after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
